Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Oregon

Our journey south from Bend took us past the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, seeing there was a visitor centre I suggested we stop and get some information. We found a great area, lots of walks and trails, and a huge volcano!

We knew we had limited time so opted to go to the top of the volcano, the shuttle bus takes you up, so pleased we didn’t have to drive as the road was just wide enough for the us, and the side of the road a sheer drop!

The views from the top were stunning, we were lucky it was a clear day and we could see for miles. We walked the lava path around the rim of the volcano stopping every few minutes to take in the views and the spectacular mountains. All too soon the bus was back and we had to take our leave and then continue our journey.
